Oxygen Crisis, COVID-19 Victims Have Been Falling Since July

News

The increase in the number of online soccer gambling enthusiasts is the same as COVID-19 patients. It is proven that since last July, millions of lives have been lost in various hospitals in Indonesia due to the oxygen cylinder crisis. As noted in the Emergency Room (IGD) of the Central General Hospital (RSUP) Dr Sardjito, Yogyakarta. There have been 63 cases of death as of July 3, 2021.

The chronology of events is not surprising. Where the surge of each incoming patient exceeds the specified room capacity. Meanwhile, the death rate is increasing day by day. Based on a previous report by the Director of Sardjito Hospital, Rukmono Siswishanto, the stock of oxygen cylinders in the hospital was not under control, as a result, patients exposed to COVID-19 could not be helped.

“The death toll does not only come from the lack of liquid oxygen, but also the unfavorable weather conditions,” said Siswishanto at a press conference.

Launch Various Management Strategies
Since the middle of last month, Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin believes that his party is launching various strategies for handling patients affected by COVID-19. He also said that each hospital was only allowed to get additional oxygen cylinders of up to 2,000 tons.

“We have tried hard to supply oxygen needs in each hospital through various factories and industries concerned. However, the results we get are still not optimal. So many victims have fallen,” said Budi as quoted by the Presidential Secretariat YouTube.

Stock outside Java is not promising
This situation not only happened to Java, but outside Java also experienced conditions that were not possible. Because the stock of oxygen cylinders at all points is not very promising.

Recently, several well-known hospitals in South Kalimantan have been lacking oxygen cylinders since early July. Even though they have old stock, the stock only lasts no more than 1 week.

The doctor at the Ulin Kalimantan Hospital, Azizatul Aulia, uploaded his tweet on his official twitter account, saying he deeply regrets the limitations of oxygen cylinders. So that the hospital can not work optimally.

President Joko Widodo Gets Summons
Recently, more than 100 civil society organizations have submitted subpoenas against President Joko Widodo, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin to Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi regarding the scarcity of oxygen in various hospitals.

Several alliances said that the oxygen shortage was constrained by various factors, one of which was the increase in the number of victims of COVID-19. On the other hand, they saw a very unreasonable price increase.
As the IND Times reported, the open subpoena called for a lack of firmness on the part of the government. The result is that millions of lives cannot be saved.

Trade Minister Speaks Up
Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi spoke about the scarcity of oxygen cylinders. His party considered it too difficult to get large amounts of oxygen in a short time. Because previously the government has maximized efforts to contain COVID-19.

“Since last year the government has played an active role in meeting the needs of the community, especially for humanitarian issues in responding to the corona virus outbreak. I have also channeled the problem to the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and other Coordinating Ministry for the smooth supply of oxygen cylinders,” said Lutfi in a virtual press conference.

“I hope the public must remain patient in dealing with this situation. This is a state of law, so no one can go against the prevailing policies. However, we are still working hard to guarantee the human side,” he concluded.
