"The mood here is one of fear of the unknown. Many residents believe Ojukwu could be picked up, but nobody is sure of when this would happen or what would result from it," a resident of the city told P.M.News today.

Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Hundreds of security personnel, including soldiers, anti-riot policemen and SSS operatives, have been drafted to Enugu town in preparation for possible arrest of former Biafran warlord, Ikemba of Nnewi, Dim Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu,. P.M.News gathered that the soldiers and policemen were deployed to the area after Ojukwu insisted that he had no intention of going to Abuja to honour the SSS invitation. Dozens of soldiers in battle gear were noticed at the Independence Layout and along Hillview Road leading to Ojukwu's house this morning. Some soldiers and policemen were also stationed on the road leading to the Enugu Government House, located within the layout. Apart from the thick concentration of soldiers at the Independence Layout, well armed policemen were also sighted in strategic parts of the city. Some residents of Enugu also complained of seeing many strange faces in the city since the face-off between Ojukwu and the SSS began.

More SSS operatives were said to have been posted to Enugu to monitor the movement of visitors to Ojukwu's residence. "The mood here is one of fear of the unknown. Many residents believe Ojukwu could be picked up, but nobody is sure of when this would happen or what would result from it," a resident of the city told P.M.News today. Meanwhile, hundreds of sympathisers and supporters of Ojukwu have continued to pay him solidarity visits over his current face off with the government. Among those who had visited him to pledge their support were Senator Uche Chukwumerije and Col. Joe Achuzia (retd.), Secretary-General of Ohaneze, the pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation. It was also learnt that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and some prominent supporters of Igbo presidency in 2007 have visited the Ikemba to demonstrate their support.

A delegation of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), which had Ojukwu as its presidential candidate in the 2003 general election also visited the embattled Biafran warlord yesterday to show solidarity. The team was led by Chief Maxi Okwu, Deputy National Chairman of the party. Ojukwu told the delegation that it was irresponsible of the SSS not to have arrested him if his support for MASSOB constituted a threat to national security. He said his decision not to honour the SSS was due to the manner he was invited by the service, adding: "I will not take insults." Meanwhile, report said 53 MASSOB members were arrested early this week at Technical Secondary School premises, Abule Ado, while holding an illegal meeting to discuss the actualisation of the sovereign state of Biafra. Security report said MASSOB identity cards, invitation cards, MASSOB vests, three amplifiers, generator, wires, loud speakers, keg of fuel, funnel and empty kegs were seized from them. All the suspects are being detained at the State CID, Yaba for interrogations. Meanwhile, other members of the MASSOB are being closely monitored for arrest.
