Rochas whom people thought was the beneficiary of Umeh’s fight against Obi, said that what Umeh was doing had shown him as a vicious and born blackmailer, who could even blackmail the Pope if he refused to give him money.

Victor Umeh is fighting Obi because he refused that Umeh should impose his candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah as the next Governor. Already, Ifeanyi promised him 500 million Naira if he delivers. Already, he has paid him N250, Million naira for the balance to be paid after delivery.

What victor is doing now is part of the long planned strategy to deliver ifeanyi Uba. Read below what was posted on the net earlier this year

IFEANYI UBAH SET TO FIGHT GOV. PETER OBI

Today, it is no longer a secret that the Anambra Oil magnet, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah is set to replace Gov. Peter Obi as the Governor of Anambra State.

He has been telling his friends that he was ready to spend whatever it will take to achieve his ambition for which he had set aside the initial N20, 000,000,000 Billion and he is working seriously towards that.

To get the support of the people, he has floated a foundation through which he is supporting the poor, building churches, subsidising kerosene, helping the widow and all manner of philanthropy.

Chief Austine Ndigwe, (Uzu Awka and Ozo Gidigbam Gidigbam) his right hand man said that Ubah had already secured the support of Rochas Okorocha, whom he made the Governor Single handedly. He said that the Oil magnet is unhappy that his own Governor is not supporting him, but he said they had a good weapon they would use against him if every effort to get his support failed.

Uba has the support of the following, who are also on his monthly pay roll for the project:

a. Chief Victor Umeh (APGA National Chairman) N10,000,000

b. Chief Austine Ndigwe, Uzu Awka N10,000,000

c. Mr. Alfred Nwosu N5,000,000

Others he feels that may be in a position to help are also on his pay roll, including some vociferous clergy men of all denominations.

NOW THE WAR

Uzu Awka said Ubah confided in them how Obi would kneel down and beg him at the appropriate time. How he paid N25, 000,000 (Twenty-Five Million Naira) to the former Lagos State Commissioner for Police, Mr. Marvel Apkoyibo to set Obi up. Do you still remember the $250,000,000 (Two hundred and Fifty Million Dollars) and N250, 000,000 (Two hundred and Fifty Million Naira) his people were apprehended with while transporting it from Awka to Lagos.

Uzu Awka said that Obi did not know that the ADC in question, was the one Ubah used to do dirty deeds in Lagos and that it was Ubah who planned for him to be sent to Anambra as Obi’s ADC. “The man think he is clever not knowing that Anyi had already paid his former ADC, N3, 000,000 (three Million Naira) for him and his boys to spy at his every move and he succeeded.” he said.

What will Obi Need him for?

According to Uzu Awka, Ubah informed him that Akpayibo had already given him the entire video of the $250,000,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Dollars) and N250,000,000 (Two Hundred And Fifty Million Naira) episode containing:

a. When the money, local and foreign currencies, were loaded in Awka

b. When the money was being of-loaded in Lagos

c. Where Governor Obi was kneeling down and begging the Police Commissioner to only disclose the Naira component and allow him keep the $250, 000,000 Dollars, (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Dollars), which he agreed after he was given $10,000,000 (Ten Million Dollars) out of it.

Uzu Awka boosted that the tape is with Governor Rochas Okorocha, himself, victor Umeh and Alfred Nwosu.

Uzu Awka further revealed that they had got the Accountant General of Anambra State, who confirmed that Gov. Obi has one of the cheque books of Anambra State Government in his possession , which he uses to withdraw the money he changes into dollars.

He said they also heard how Obi withdrew the sum of 5, 000, 000 Pounds (Five Million Pounds) he said was for the payment of Ojukwu’s hospital Bill, When the actual bill was just 500,000 Pounds (Five Hundred Thousand Pounds).

Ubah, according to Uzu Awka, has documentary evidence of all the properties Obi bought in different parts of the world. He went on to name some:

a. Block of flat at Dubai bought for $10,000,000 (Ten Million Dollars)

b. Block of flats at Singapore bought at $12, 500,000 (Twelve Million, Five Hundred Thousand Dollars)

c. A detached building at Atlanta, Georgia at $6,500,000 (Six Million, Five Hundred Thousand Dollars)

d. A flat at Manhattan, New York, $8, 250,000 (Eight Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars)

e. A Holiday Resort at Bahamas for which he paid $4, 500, 000 (Four Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars)

Uzu Awka said the moment Obi knew that Ubah has a lot on him, he quickly visited him in his Abuja home knelt down and begged him not to expose him.

Ubah, Uzu Awka said further, was particularly angry that Obi, in spite of his hands of friendship, is bent on handing over to a known drug courier.

Ubah’s Plans

Uzu Awka revealed how Ubah had concluded arrangement working with the Presidency and EFCC of how Obi’s immunity would be waived for his arrest if he does not support Ubah. He also talked about the arrest of his wife and Commissioners by the EFCC.

Uzu Awka talked of how they got Obi’s Commissioner for Finance, Eze Echesi to support them, because he had been promised that he would be retained and made the coordinating Commissioner for the Economy of Anambra State. Anambra’s version of Nigeria’s Okonjo Iweala. He said he had been quite helpful, giving then photocopies of sensitive documents that they will use ti nail Obi’

As for the SSG, who wants to be the Governor, Uzu Awka said the poor man saw the force Ubah was coming with and had already agree to serve as his Deputy instead. Though the man is old, he said it would be strategic to use him and placate his people who were promised to produce the next Governor.

Masterweb News Desk reliably gathered there were no survivors in Dana Air Boeing MD-83, operating as flight 997 that crash in Lagos on Sunday at approximately 3:43 pm (10:43 am ET) local time in Iju Ishaga, a little over 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) north of the airport. The Dana aircraft with 146 passengers and 7 cabin crew, en-route from Abuja to Lagos, crashed into a three-storey building and exploded into flames. The plane first crashed through a furniture store, then into the three-storey residential building next to it. The crash impact extensively damaged the furniture store, but partially on the three-storey building, as the plane’s nose was the only section that penetrated the later structure. Debris from the plane and badly burnt body parts littered the crash site. Ten people were killed on the ground according to reports. Two fire trucks and 50 emergency personnel were on the crash site an hour after the incident.

Thousands watched as firefighters battled the flames; some reported burning bodies in the wreckage. Eyewitnesses said they heard passengers crying for help. One eyewitness said: “They were crying, help, help, help but no one could do anything after the plane had crashed. We all rushed to the scene after the plane crashed but we did not know what to do as the smoke was too much for us. Somebody in the crashed plane, we don’t know whether it was a passenger or the pilot, tried to escape, but was burnt to death.”

Search by firefighters, residents and rescue workers for bodies and, hopefully, survivors continued through the night and into Monday. More than 80 bodies had been recovered by 1.00 am Monday local time, 10 of which belonged to residents of the building/area.

Though Nigeria aviation authorities are still carrying out investigations to determine the cause of the crash, Masterweb Reports reliably gathered both engines of the plane failed as it prepared landing. It is not clear what led to the failure of both engines at the same time, but aviation experts who spoke to Masterweb Reports on condition of anonymity said they did not rule out poor maintenance. Six Chinese nationals were on board the ill-fated flight. The pilot according to confirmed reports was an American and the co-pilot, an Indian. Many rule out human (pilot) error in the crash.

Princess Stella Oduah, Nigeria Aviation Minister on Sunday said she was saddened by the crash; in her words, speaking at a news conference at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) headquarters said: “Today at 3.43 pm local time , DANA Air flight 0992 from Abuja to Lagos declared an emergency with the Lagos Control Tower at eleven nautical miles to Murtala Muhammed Airport( MMA). A minute later, the aircraft disappeared from the air traffic control radar. The flight was found to have crashed into a residential building at Iju area of Agege with 153 people on board. The police, National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA), rescue teams from the airport, Lagos State , Ogun State and other agencies were at the crash site within minutes, At this time, no survivor have been found. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the passengers and the people on the ground who lost their lives in this tragedy. The Federal Government will ensure that this incident is thoroughly investigated to determine the exact cause of the accident in order to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.”

Dana Air had its maiden flight in November 2008 and now operates 18 domestic daily flights to Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Uyo. In August 2010, U.S. gave Nigeria FAA's Category 1 status, its top safety rating which allowed the nation's domestic carriers to fly directly to U.S. Nigeria’s aviation is not without problems - radar screens may go blank from electric power failure which is rampant in Nigeria, airports inclusive. Sunday crash is the second involving Nigerian planes in two days. On Saturday, a cargo plane belonging to Allied Air overshot the runway in Kotoka International Airport, Ghana, and crashed into a mini bus, killing 10 people. Dana crash is Nigeria's worst aviation disaster since 1992 when a military C-130 went down after takeoff in Lagos, killing all 200 on board.

Among the victims of Dana Air flight 997 crash are the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma; and Ehime Aikhomu, son of the late ex-military Vice-President Augustus Aikhomu. Below is manifest of Dana flight that crashed in Lagos

President Goodluck Jonathan declared a three-day national mourning in memory of the victims of the Dana Air crash. He directed that the national flag be flown at half mast for the three days of mourning. Jonathan also cancelled all public engagements scheduled for Monday. The cause of the Dana Air crash is yet to be determined, but questions are being raised about the age of Dana’s planes. In 2010, Nigeria banned all planes over 20 years old. According to Planespotters.net, the average age of Dana’s fleet of five planes is 21.4 years, its newest plane is 20.9 years old.

-Masterweb Reports (Submission By Obinna Akukwe)

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is the owner of Believers Love World Fellowship which metamorphosed into Christ Embassy International Ministries. This Church has a regular membership of over 3 million in Nigeria alone and fans of over ten million people who belong to other denominations but see Pastor Chris as their alternative pastor. Inadvertently Pastor Chris Oyakhilome controls over twelve million people in Nigeria especially the youth and middle aged. His telecast is still the most viewed among Nigerian Christians including Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Methodists and Pentecostal brethren.

This Pastor recently stirred the hornets’ nest in the month of February 2012 when answering a question on how to overcome masturbation said thus ‘’masturbation in itself is not a sin against God. Satan uses it in oppressing the mind and make them feel ineffective and inefficient in the sight of God. But once you understand that it’s got nothing to do with God, its about you and your own body…’’ When people thought that his position was a slip of tongue, He defended it in another telecast weeks later and called it a habit which has nothing to do with God. The same pastor weeks later added that alcoholism and smoking is not a sin, rather it is just a habit.

This theory of masturbation not being a sin is not biblical. Masturbation is a besetting sin. A besetting sin is a habit that sticks to someone as though it is normal. A sin that has become a habit is called a besetting sin. Some people call it entangling sin because it entangles a person, thereby making escape difficult. . In Hebrew Chapter 12 verse 1-2 the scripture says that ‘’ wherefore seeing we are also compassed with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and sin which easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith’’ In Nigeria now, corruption has become a besetting sin, our religious leaders encourage it and release anointing for the corrupt Congregationalist to escape the arms of the law. However, this does not remove the fact that corruption is evil in the sight of God.

Smoking of Cigarettes, Indian Hemps, Cocaine, Marijuana or whatever are besetting sins. They are normalised anomalies. Masturbation is one of them. In Nigeria today, fornication has become so rampant that it has a besetting sin. People now discuss their sexual escapades with different people as a status symbol.

The Bible has a standard. In Matthew Chapter 5 verse 8 Jesus Christ said that ‘’ but I tell you that whosoever looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart’’ This implies that sin starts from the heart. Masturbation definitely involves constant lustful imaginations which the victim indulges in as a means of vitiating sexual pressures. Students of demonology have discovered that those sexual images which follow masturbation are actually pictures from the marine world juxtaposed on the persons’ sub-conscious and he begins to imagine some sexy looking man or woman. Some persons get initiated into the company of a spirit husband or wife after orgies of masturbation. In addition, a masturbator will definitely get tired of the self indulgence and would want to experiment with actual sex, leading to fornication or adultery.

Smoking of cigarettes has become a fanciful habit which a lot of persons want to break away from without success. The late minister of health Professor Olukoye Ransome Kuti said that he quit decades of smoking the day he was appointed as Minister of Health by Ibrahim Babangida in 1985. All his previous attempts to quit the bad habit failed until he made a resolution that as the chief health officer of Nigeria he cannot be a bad example, which was how he secured his freedom. If those referred to as unbelievers want to quit smoking, how can a Born Again Christian justify feeding on what pagans, atheists and animists are struggling to quit. The producers and hawkers of cigarettes warn that the substance is dangerous to health.

Alcoholism is an intoxicant which persons use to feel good and fight depression. A lot of sicknesses are directly related to it and the manufacturers will always warn that it is not for those below the age of eighteen. A lot of family breadwinners have expended all their live savings on alcohol while the wife and children are left unattended to.

Therefore for a pastor who directly influences over three million persons in Nigeria and indirectly influences another twelve million fans that belong to other churches to encourage these habits, the end has really come.

The implications of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s open cheque is that many young men and women running into millions will join the league of masturbators, fornicators, adulterers, smokers of cigarettes, Indian hemp, cocaine and consumers of different brands of alcohol; Whisky, Schnapps, ‘Sapele Water’, ‘Kaikai’, Akpuru-achai’ etc. In these trying seasons for Nigeria and Africa, this pastor has led his congregation and that of others astray. Apostle Paul said in Galatians Chapter 1 verse 8-9 says ‘’ but even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse ! As we have already said now I say again: if anyone is preaching a gospel other than the one you have accepted, let that one be under God’s curse’’

Influential pastors are now blessing masturbation, drunkenness and smoking. Soon others will bless watching pornographic materials, same-sex marriage and marriage to pythons, cobras, dogs, baboons and horses. Later they will begin to sanction occultism, human sacrifice, flying in the night and astral projections in the church. In the height of it they will remove Christ as the centre piece and replace him with the man of sin, the Antichrist, who will exalt himself as God in the temple of God as illustrated in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2, Verse 3-8. This appearance of the man of sin will precede the second coming of Jesus Christ. The level of hero worship that Christian faithful give their leaders is a dress rehearsal of the level of worship the antichrist will receive in the church when he finally arrives. Replacing the views of God as outlined in the scripture with the views of the Senior Pastor or Archbishop who is prone to mistakes and fallibility could lead a sincere faithful to hell fire while the errant pastor might repent at the last moment and escape to heaven.

This constant replacement of scriptural truth with the doctrines of men is as old as Christianity but somehow the Church have always found its way back to the path. The early church was moving in the right direction, preserving the faith the Apostles until Emperor Constantine and Co-Emperor Lucinius passed the Edict of Milan in 313 which proclaimed religious tolerance for all religions in Roman Empire, signaling the end of the era of brutal persecution of the church. Constantine the Great became a Christian and his conversion made Christianity fashionable and a lot of pagan converts clung to all manners of practices and theories which formed part of their former religion. These paganistic practices quenched the fire of the early church, leading to a lot of schisms, heresies and apostasies and eventually ushered in the period known as the dark ages of the Church.

The situation so much deteriorated that the church had to suppress the growing schisms with ecclesiastical proscriptions, anathema, imprisonment and in few cases execution. This schism was so intense that in 1378 a group of Italian Cardinals elected Urban VI as Pope while later in the same year another group of French Cardinals elected Clement VII as Pope who established his seat of papacy in Avigon, France. The two groups were excommunicating each other from the church. The Papacy in the aftermath of the Protestant Reformation restored the rights of the laity to possess, read and translate the Bible. Therefore the views of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome are a modern day replica of the gradual introduction of strange ideas in the early church which nearly suffocated the spiritual efficacy of the church.

The silence of the mainstream Pentecostal leadership towards this theory is dangerous. Our Christian leaders have suddenly lost their voices while a false doctrine is circulating among the church. Other matters are currently occupying their attention. Whether these ecclesiastical authorities condemned it or not is immaterial, what matters is the word of God. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verse 19-20 ‘’ do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit who is in you whom you have received from God, you are not your own: you were bought with a price, therefore honour God with your body’’. 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verse 18 say’’ flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whosoever sins sexually, sins against their own body’’ while ‘’Isaiah Chapter 5 Verse 11 says’’ woe unto them that rise up early in the morning that they may follow strong drink, that continues until night that wine inflames them’’ and verse 22 says ‘’ woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and .men of strength to mingle strong drink’’

Therefore it is obvious that a Christian has a duty to honour God with his body and not to resign himself to habits injurious to the health of man and the laws of God. These habits and besetting sins are part of why Jesus Christ came, to take away sins and give us power to overcome all these desires. Power over self and sinful habits is more important to the Christian than acquisition of all manners of fame, female and finance but modern days Christianity have elevated prosperity to heights inconsistent with the scriptures. If religious faithful cry unto God for deliverance from bad habits the way they fast and pray for political appointments, marital breakthrough and the death of all their enemies, these besetting sins and habits will leave them and get back to where it came from.

The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar was in Anambra State yesterday on official tour of the Anambra State Police Command.

Speaking during a courtesy visit on the Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, he said he was in the State because all the times the Governor had called him on phone or visited him, that he was so passionate about security of lives and property in the State. “I am here to access the command, its operational readiness and needs”, he said. The IG said that Anambra was one of the foremost States in Nigeria in terms of economic achievement, which, according to him, flourished when there were peace and security.

Speaking about the police force, he admitted that he took over at a time the world all of over, including Nigeria, is facing security challenges. He assured Nigerians that the police would not relent. He promised to continue to work towards restoring professionalism in the police by emphasizing discipline, competence, training and motivation.

Responding, Governor Obi thanked him for the visit. He said that Anambra State Government was committed to working with legitimate security agencies in the State. He said that he had donated over 200 new patrol vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), communication equipment, among others to the police and that he would continue to support and work with them.

Obi appealed to the IG to consider Anambra security along the line of her huge population saying, “population wise, Okpoko alone should have its own command.” Describing Anambra as one of the safest States in the country, he linked the challenge os armed robbery to the volume of cash in the State, being predominantly a commercial city.

Later, at a well attended Town Hall meeting, The Inspector General of Police read a riot act, saying that road block is gone forever. According to him, Nigeria is the only country where police block roads and block easy passage by motorists. Through the ban of road blocks, Abubakar said, the police had curbed at least 70 per cent of corruption among its rank and file.

He said he would tackle the nasty issue of extorting money from detainees before bail, saying that there was nowhere in the constitution where money was prescribed for bail.
He also said that the police had drawn a code of conduct for police men and any one not toeing the line would be dismissed. But he asked the people to be courageous and resist tempting the police with bribes.

He also said that illegal use of siren must stop and that he had ordered the Anambra Commissioner of Police to enforce the law after his visit.

Unemployment in Delta State is becoming abnormally high. This is in spite of the fact that Delta State is one of the richest states in the country in terms of the revenue it receives from the federation account. This has probably led to increase in crime.

Recently, during the workers’ day celebration, the state leadership of Nigerian Labour Congress accused the civil service of collecting six hundred thousand naira (N600, 000) from applicants before they can secure employment. The State Governor has vowed to investigate this and assured that anyone found guilty will be dealt with. We hope that this avowal will not be mellowed by party intrigues as it was with a similar promise made by the governor on DESOPADEC some years ago.

First, it is surprising that the governor heard of this rumour only during the May Day celebration. This is a rumour that has spread all over the state and appeared consistent with the opportunistic hustle for employment in Delta State where those who do not need the jobs are offered jobs in the first instance by allocation according to hierarchical political importance rumoured to begin with the governor’s interest. It was not hidden. In his attempt at defending his employment record, the governor said that the state wanted to employ only two hundred and fifty workers but had to raise it to one thousand. Only one thousand to be employed from a sea of hundreds of thousands of unemployed youths – any wonder why criminal activities have gone up in the state?

Where will the newly employed get such huge sum to pay for the alleged bribe demanded by the state or its agents? How many unemployed can afford to pay such stupendous sum? Does it not show that only the relations of those bleeding the state dry are the ones who would afford this? In a state where minimum wage is little above eighteen thousand Naira (N18, 000), how many years will it take these newly employed to recoup their investment? If such money has been borrowed, how many years will it take them to pay back? What moral lessons are we teaching these newly employed? Are we not telling them that corruption pays? Are we not telling them that once they are employed, they should look for all available means to recoup what they have invested? Are we not telling them that the process of getting money does not matter but that the end justifies the means? Is Delta State now Delta State Corruption Limited? Has the DTHA become so spineless or they secured their own quota in the allocation of the jobs that were eventually traded to the hapless applicants who have received their authoritative baptism of corruption?

Setting up an investigating team is not a wrong move but the governor should first and foremost accept full responsibility for this alleged offence by his subordinates. The buck stops at the governor’s table. If a very transparent process has been put in place, this embarrassment wouldn’t have occurred. That the governor can boldly say that he employed one thousand workers goes to show that the state has no plans of reducing unemployment menace in the state. When states like Osun and Oyo are employing twenty thousand workers each, Delta State is employing one thousand and in a controversial manner too. Government and government policies drive the economy. We agree that government cannot employ all but government policies can help in creating that employment. So far, we have not seen the policies that will create employment in Delta the state. All we see are inflated contracts and abandoned projects and drain pipes such as theN7.4billion meant to demolish hills at Asaba Airport. These will not create employment.

Let the government honestly and holistically reduce drastically the crime rate in the state. If this is done, investors will troop into the state to invest. Delta State is still a virgin land waiting to be explored and developed. Opportunities abound in the state. Once kidnappings, armed robberies and political crimes are reduced to the barest minimum by using a sociological approach that taked most of the criminally inclined off the street, then Delta State will be a haven for investors. These investments will create employment opportunities and jobs.

Energy must be provided to run homes and industries. Once energy is constant, cottage, small and medium industries will begin to grow and in the process reduce unemployment. Delta State has an advantage over many states in the country. It is blessed with gas. This can be utilized in generating power that can even be sold to other states. The gas being flared in Ebedei, Orogun and other numerous communities could be channeled into making Delta State the power state of the country. We are not referring to the haphazard and insincere job at Oghara power project. These power projects will be able to employ thousands of Deltan youths.

In the short term, agriculture is another major sector that can reduce unemployment in the state. Agriculture is the greatest employer in the country. Unfortunately, the Delta State government has not done enough in this sector. The only thing it claims to have done is joint venture between the state and Obasanjo Farms for which a curious sum of over N2 billion was paid to Obasanjo Farms a few years ago. This cannot employ more than a hundred workers. Youths want investments that can yield dividends, more jobs and quickly too. They have not got the patience for long term investments hence most of them shun agriculture. Vegetables and tomatoes are quarterly farm products. Within months, anybody farming these will begin to make returns. Our soil is good enough for these products. Who says that Delta State cannot supply the South South need for vegetables, pepper and tomatoes. Our dependence on the north will be reduced. From Umunede to Ogwashi Uku to Jesse and all over the state; the land is there to grow these crops. The youths will gladly embrace this because of the quick dividends. It is only when they have started reaping the fruits that some of them may now venture into other areas of agriculture. All government need do is to provide improved seedlings, fertilizer education and an enabling policy and programme.

Tourism is another source of major employment in the state. Tourism can only thrive if there is peace and security, good roads and a well developed infrastructure and hospitality sector. Countries such as Kenya, Senegal and Uganda have tourism as their major source of revenue. Delta State can develop her tourism sector to be at par with Cross River. Again, sincerity of purpose is needed. The Udu tourism centre that is being planned is a welcome development but the true financiers have to be made known since it has since emerged that the foreign partners have not got the wherewithal to embark on such a gigantic project.

The illogically of asphalting the divide of the Express Road from Effurun Round About along the DSC Expressway to Oleri and casing the edge of a road that was not constructed by the Delta State Government at a price that cannot be anything but provocative resonates of the kind of planlessness and waste that that the Asaba Airport symbolizes.

Let the Delta State government revive all ailing and dead industries in the state. These industries can yield revenue for the state and also create employment. Beta Glass Company is functioning and making profit while Delta Glass directly opposite it is dead. Why is there no partnership with serious private sector investors to restore Delta Glass Factory, the idle Gold mine that is wasting away, that uses the same principal raw material with Beta Glass Limited just opposite it?

While government is embarking on its investigation of the said employment bribery scandal, it must be said that the Uduaghan administration has not scored a pass mark in employment creation in the state. It also shows the rot in the system in the state.

In the words of M. Ahweyevu Mukoro Esq, Director General of Delta Rescue Mission (DRM), in a recent press conference, “the unemployment situation in Delta State is alarming and unacceptable. If not urgently tackled, we may have a crisis in our hands which may prove difficult to handle. Government should make judicious use of the people’s wealth to do the best for the majority of the people and not the few that have turned the state’s asset to their personal gold mine. A situation where the budget for Government House and Governor’s Office is more than that of four ministries in the last in the last four years can never create employment”

Dear General Gowon,

Since you were deposed from power more than 35 years ago, you have understandably been guided in your public utterances, especially about the murdering spree you presided over between 1966-1970. Now you have allowed the euphoria of an award you did not deserve to make unguided remarks about a period in your life that will haunt you for the rest of your life and into judgement day.

In a report/interview in ThisDay Live on 8th May 2012, you were quoted as follows: “It was not my wish or the wish of those serving with me at the time (to prosecute the war). We did everything to make sure it did not happen.”  Haba! Gowon, how can you say this? Were you misquoted? Or were you overwhelmed by an award you did not deserve, or did your memory go into comma? That Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu is late (may his soul rest in peace) does not mean that the war is forgotten nor your 'evil' involvement in it. Millions of people who fought and lived through the war are still alive and still remember it as events of yesterday.

In the same write-up, you were also quoted as saying: “My heart bleeds to see that (film) clip with those kwashiorkor-stricken children. God knows how much effort I made to send food to those children, but it was sabotaged by propaganda that the federal troops had poisoned the food.” (Emphasises are mine.) Oh God! Okay, Gen. Gowon, read these quotations again, did you really say these words? Do you sincerely and honestly believe them to be true? Do you know what, come out of your closet. Calling you a pathological and shameless liar will be awarding you another undeserved award, but that is what you are. You are either suffering from chronic dementia or you are indirectly trying to appease the millions of people you murdered and those mourning them. Instead of you to come out openly and humbly ask God and the people of Biafra for forgiveness for the atrocities you committed; yet you are still wallowing in self pity and self justification. Unfortunately, this will not save you from the catastrophe that will befall you, the wrath of God and haunting spirits of the millions you sent to their early graves.

You see Gen Gowon, nemesis is catching up on you and your co-murderous generals of the "Langtang Mafia" - Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, Jeremiah Useni, etc. Your upper north 'masters' are turning against you and your people with Boko Haram. You allowed them to use you and dump you. Today the Hausa/Fulani north is using you and your territory for dress rehearsal of their islamisation agenda which you don't have control over. The insecurity you are complaining about today is nothing compared to what you subjected Biafran people to in 1966-1970.

Further to your lies, I hope you are not contemplating writing a memoir as you indirectly hinted - it may turn out to be efforts in futility - as it will be lies and complete distortion of historical facts. If you can lie against the death and the living, against 'Aburi Accord' - the most famous historical document of your genocidal war, everything that will come out of your mind, your mouth will be lies, documented lies and lies with references and footnotes. Anything, everything you write will be an 'own goal' as it may turn out to be self documentary that may be used against you. Biafran people and the literary world are lying in wait for you.

As a matter of fact, the best honour and Lifetime Achievement Award you deserve is for being the highest mass murderer of the 20th century - you presided over the total annihilation of more than 3 million people. How dare you say, "...love Nigeria and believe in Nigeria; good or bad, right or wrong. Bring all your grievances to the table for discussion. Let us get together truly and sincerely and find a solution to our differences.”? Really? Is it not you that reneged on Aburi Accord under pressure from your British and Northern masters? Nigerian leaders of the day got 'together truly and sincerely' and found solution to their differences, as expressed in Aburi Accord; but you later turned it down, consigning it into dustbin of history. Where is the guarantee that another agreement will not turn into 'Aburi 2'?

Bye the way, Gen Gowon, has it dawned on you or have you been reminded that you are the root cause of the problems of instability and division in Nigeria today? If you had not reneged on Aburi Accord - a document that called for and supported return to true federalism; the civil war could have been averted, there would not have been countless military coups, military perfection of corruption, mortgaging Nigeria to few retired generals and their civilian cronies, Boko Haram, etc. In fact, you do not deserve any award for anything, except as a mass murderer, and for presiding over the terminal division and underdevelopment of Nigeria. On top of that, you are lying against the dead.

The purpose of this letter is to cause you to reflect on the burden you are carrying. The burden of the millions you murdered and starved to death; your lies and distortion of historical facts. If you are in doubt, ask yourself, where is Charles Taylor of Liberia, Ratko Mladic of Serbia, holocaust perpetrators and collaborators and all those who had committed genocide crime against humanity? I would be worried, very, very worried, if I were in your shoe.

Thank you for your time.

A statement by Governor Theodore Orji’s Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, said the audit revealed that the ghost pensioners had been milking the state government.

The discovered fake pensioners on the state’s payroll numbering over 4,000 was discovered by the Abia state government, while over N88 million paid to the ghost pensioners have also been recovered through the audit firm.

“The state government, earlier in the year, engaged the services of a seasoned consultancy firm in February to do a thorough job as far as the issue of pensioners are concerned” the statement read.

“The outcome of the work is the revelation of fake pensioners receiving payment from the state government” Emezue said, adding that the state governor, Theodore Orji will continue to focus on the welfare of pensioners in the state.

(Paper Presentation at "Ndigbo in the Geo-Politics of Nigeria, the way foward" Lecture - May 25, 2012 at NUJ Press Center, Enugu, Enugu State.)

Igbo Kwenu! Ohanaeze Kwenu! Ndigbo kwezuonu! Nke onye chiri, ya zara. Ndigbo, Ndi nwem, I stand gratefully here today, in my humble self, to address a nation whom God has abundantly blessed in love, wisdom and unbreakable unity. I stand here today to show my immense gratitude to Igbo who, even in the midst of great injustice and threat to slavery held-on in Nigeria, taking the lead in education and private enterprise. Age, experience and ‘Nzuko Igbo” have taught me that the spirit of Igbo is one that maintains progress in midst of grief and pain. Although it is over forty years since the Nigeria-Biafra war ended, you will all agree with me that, despite the continued unwritten law which militates against Igbo progress in Nigeria, through His Mercies, there still remain reasons to shout, once again, at the top of our voices: “Happy survival!”, “Our time is here!”.

A fair and equitable Nigeria governed by truth and justice calls for presidential power shift to South East Region after the completion of Goodluck Jonathan’s term either in 2015 or 2019 as the case may be. Ndigbo are not slaves nor third class citizens to be rendered impotent in the political equation by those who claim to have won an unjust war that should not have been fought in the first place. All the regions have taken turns in producing presidents that occupied the center for prolong periods. Northern regions (North East-5 years+, North West-15 years & North Central-18 years) have ruled Nigeria for 38 years; and Southern regions (South West-11 years+, South South-2 years & South East-6 months) for 13 years. Under the six geopolitical zones, four zones have had power for more than five years each, South East the least with 6 months. Nnamdi Azikiwe was a President, but he was not Head of Government-he did not form a federal cabinet. Azikiwe was only a ceremonial President. Tafawa Balewa was Prime Minister and Head of Government; he formed the federal cabinet. By 2015 after Jonathan completes one term of office, each geo-political zone with the exception of South East would have ruled Nigeria for at least five years. Equity and fairness call for the South East to take its turn after President Jonathan. After South East presidency, Nigeria can then decide whether or not to discard zoning and rotational presidency.

Nigerian president of South East extraction is a matter of “truth and justice” and not of concession. Nigeria needs a President of Igbo extraction to help stabilize the country from its falter and in addition foster development. An Igbo President will see the entire nation as his own homeland, since Igbos are in every nook and corner of the country. Such a president would evenly distribute developmental projects in the country. This means that if water runs in Umuahia, it must also run in Lagos and Kano.

I humbly, as our father, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu did several times before he passed unto Glory, make these passionate pleas:

1. That Igbo should, and as a matter of survival and living, must come, once again and forever, together in the spirit of Ahiara declaration, assert our basic rights in Nigeria.

2. That the Igbo take it upon us, from this very blessed and memorable day, to champion for Igbo presidency in Nigeria come 2015 or 2019 as the case may be with Jonathan’s full term.

3. That our leaders- in their different capacities- do whatever it takes, in the spirit of true federalism, to prevail upon our friends and neighbors from other tribes and ethnic groups within Nigeria on the need for an Igbo presidency after Jonathan. We, as Igbo nation, have severally, in the past, stood behind and seen to the successes of peoples from other tribes and ethnicities in Nigeria for the post of the presidency - a post no Igbo has occupied since we lost in a “no victor no vanquished” war.

4. That, in other to achieve this, every other matter and reason for disparity and disagreements amongst us should and must be relegated to the background and all efforts, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, resources and time be channeled towards communicating with, educating, and reaching agreements with our people in their different positions and beliefs in Nigeria.

5. That, this time, as a nation united unto eternity, we must speak with a voice to the rest of Nigerians of the need, justice and inevitability of accepting and having an Igbo presidency. Subjugation is not our inheritance and the spirit of slavery in times of great freedom is strange to us.

6. That every politics we play henceforth, no matter the party, be rooted in the conviction and steps towards producing an Igbo presidency after Jonathan.

7. That, in all wisdom, looking at the prevailing party in Nigeria today, and its zoning methods which have always rubbed us of our rights to the presidency since the war ended, it has now become pertinent and expedient to consider coming together and joining talents and resources in a party which agrees to true federalism and which supports, unconditionally, an Igbo presidency.

8. That, unlike decades gone, we should make it clearly understood by all and sundry in Nigeria that the rejection of an Igbo presidency would amount to Nigeria’s unfeeling of the Igbo pains and marginalization for over half a century. And making it clear that, should Nigeria and the elite who have and always would want an incapacitated Igbo in Nigeria, remain adamant on denying us our God-given rights in Nigeria, the only alternative left to us may be to lead our people out of a nation where we have remained rejected, robbed, marginalized and killed- despite our unrivaled competence and contributions towards a better Nigeria.

Thank you and God bless you all. Amen.

Signed:
