[ Masterweb Reports: Emma Elekwa reports ] - Several activists including civil right advocate, Dr. Perry Brimah narrowly escaped being killed in Abuja Wednesday as many protesting youth were shot with deaths reported and images published online.

Several activists came out empathetic towards the case of citizen Zeenat and her reportedly dying husband, Sheikh Zakzaky –suffering what may be a stroke after being blinded and paralyzed– who have been detained for over two years by the Buhari administration in contempt of clear court orders. The protests are being staged as the detained sheikh reportedly needs urgent medical care and his extremely patient followers and fans are finally becoming totally irritated.

Some of the activists were to meet with the protesters when they got to Unity fountain Abuja, while Dr Brimah had agreed to meet them at the initiation point at Area 10. When Dr Brimah got there he saw that he could print his banners nearby and decided to do so. Thus he was an hour late. A bit before 12 noon when Dr. Brimah called, he didn't know the protesters had left on schedule at 11am and already been shot and some reported killed by the Nigerian security men.

At 12noon when Dr Brimah got to Area 1 to try and catchup, all he met was the aftermath of the assault with teargas still smelling. Dr Brimah of @CabalMustGo proceeded to protest against police brutality, the failure to proscribe Fulani herder terrorism, militarization of the Nigerian state, the continued illegal detentions and several other injustices at the gate of the National Assembly and office of the Attorney General of the federation while the victims of the latest security services assault took care of their wounded and dead.

Considering the way Nigeria's security men massacre unarmed students, pro-Biafra Igbos and shia Muslims with glee, but resist even declaring Fulani armed and murderous terrorists as such and never promise to kill or apprehend the perpetrators of their massacres, "in Nigeria Justice is on its head" was Dr Brimah's protest message.

It is quite likely that had the meet-up point been anywhere else, Dr Brimah would have been in the front of the protest. Wednesday could literally have been Dr Perry Brimah's last day on earth.

But then, how important is Dr Brimah? Great men, sons and daughters who deserve to be hale and alive, got shot and some killed the same day. Did they deserve it because they are Shia Muslims, Shia empathizers and impartial human right and God's justice activists?

May God grant Buhari's son recovery and also the same for the sons of the many victims of Nigerian state's brutality. May no more of us find untimely injury and death. And may we all get treatment in the best hospitals in the unfortunate event of our injury if it does occur. Amen. The only thing certain about life is death.

[ Masterweb Reports: Emma Elekwa reports ] - The Anambra state police command has assured of maximum security in Ozubulu community in Ekwusigo local government area of the state, ahead of the burial of one of the victims of the church massacre slated for tomorrow Friday.

The police, through its state Police Public Relations Officer, princess Nkeiruka Nwode, said it has deployed officers and rank and file numbering about 500 for the burial of Chief Cyprian Ikegwuonu, father of High Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu (aka-bishop), suspected to be the prime target to the attack.

The 75-year old community leader was one of the 13 persons killed and scores others who sustained various degrees of injuries when unknown gun men invaded saint Philip's Catholic Church on the 6th of August, 2017.

She said the command was not taking any chances as adequate security has been provided in the community in ensuring that there was no repeat of similar act in the state

"What happened on that fateful day was unfortunate and the command does not want to encounter such again in this state or elsewhere.

"Every single person or group coming for the burial will be adequately secured because the command sees the security of its citizenry as the number one priority," she assured.

On his part, High Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu, son of the deceased, said he was still in pains over the ugly incident, expressing optimism that the attack would be the last, not only in his community but in the state at large.

He however maintained that preparations were on top gear to give his father a befitting burial.

[ Masterweb Reports: Comrade James Ezema reports ] - As the controversy surrounding the N3tr trapped pension funds to be recovered in 97 pension outfits continues to generate more reaction from Nigerians, especially with the testimony by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice at the recent Senate investigation on the reinstatement of former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina , that, Maina gave intelligence which led to the recovery and savings of N1.3 trillion for the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration in late 2016, the President is set to reassign Mr. Maina with a view to recovering the trapped pension funds.

He is also to assist in recovery of other funds trapped in different agencies like the recently reported unaccounted funds lodged in Banks under the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, which has not been remitted into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Sources from the presidency disclosed that Mr President is interested in the N3 trillion which is said to be stashed in different places and want the funds urgently recovered.

"The new coming of Mr Maina will be more interesting as his sole responsibility will be to recover not only the N3tr but other government funds being siphoned by some greedy Nigerians to the detriment of the economy", the source said.

The source further revealed that, Mr. Maina will be made to name all those involved in the pension scam and explain how his led PRTT was able to recover the N282 billion and N1.6 trillion between 2010 and 2013.

He will also give details of how so much unaccounted and unremitted funds are stilled being used and siphoned by some Heads of MDAs in 2017.

Multiple sources in the know of development who pleased not to be named because they were not authorized to speak to the media on the matter told our correspondent that Mr President is very much interested in the N3 trillion naira Maina mentioned which is said to be littered in different outfits, accounts and with individuals.

The President wants the funds to be recovered.

It was gathered that there is an intense pressure from some highly placed persons in the country on daily basis, not to allow Mr. Maina to continue his Civil Service career so that he doesn't put his search light on some identified government Agencies and officials.

Maina is said to have been directed to brief Mr President and his team on the true position of the pension saga.

The presidency, it was discovered is not foreclosing any source of funds to finance the 2018 budget proposal, it was further gathered.

The new coming of Dr. Maina will be more interesting as his sole responsibility will be to recover looted funds. His area of concentration will not only centre on the N3 trillion but other areas of the economy.

"I can assure you that even members of the All progressive Congress (APC) who have been fingered in any corrupt activity will not be spared" a source disclosed.

Another source further revealed that Dr Maina is putting together list of all those involved in the pension scam from 1999 to date, the assets and will give insights as to the locations as well as explain in detail the sources of the various recoveries and those who hid the funds in the first place and how much these people were able to enjoy as per the monthly percentages of the monies they left in those forgotten government accounts over the years.

According to the source, "the President is not going to bow to blackmail and pressure from any quarters. Dr Maina will be given all necessary security protection necessary to do a thorough job in the interest of the Country".

Another insider who spoke in condition of anonymity emphasised that, having watched the video released by Dr Maina, Mr President is compelled to take this decision in the interest of Nigerians, "remember he said he belongs to nobody and he belongs to everybody, and this is a matter of public interest and Baba is ready to protect the least of Nigerians.

"Maina will be working with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offices Related Commission, ICPC, as well as the Department of State Service, DSS and the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and other agencies in recovering the funds", the source disclosed.
